Why include massage in every self-care routine

Massage therapy is more than just a pampering treatment for the world’s elite at fancy spas, it is a vital part of everyone’s self-care routine. Everyone, from infants to great-great grandpas, deserve massages; we are all working very hard at taking care of ourselves and others, we all deserve an hour or so of relaxing, rejuvenating, or deep tissue massage.

There is a list of benefits of massage therapy provided under the benefits of massage tab on the right hand side of the page (http://elisabethsmassage.abmp.com/benefits-of-massage), however, today I would like to provide specific examples of what massage can do for two common walks of life. The first of which are PARENTS; as parents we spend hours of our day holding an unbalanced weight, anywhere between 5 and 50 pounds. Massage can help those tired muscles relax, decreasing chances of injury, fatigue, and knots. Speaking of fatigue, sleep is a very precious commodity often lacking in parents, not only through the first few years of sleep training, but also through the rest of their lives as we lay awake worrying about our children and their futures. A massage provides an hour or so of relaxation; many times fatigued parents take a nap on my table (which is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged). This hour or so of relaxation can also provide a boost of energy needed to finish the day, accomplish any chores set, or even just to stay patient until the children are in bed.

The second walk of life is traveled by those of us who do anything during our day, whatsoever, whether that be working at a desk, driving a vehicle, climbing a ladder, gardening, or even giving massages. Most all of us HARD WORKERS are stressed about something related to that work, and those of us who are not, please share your secret. Stress has an incredibly adverse effect of the human body (If you’re interest in learning exactly what those effects include, I found a very interesting article on this here https://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/199601/stress-its-worse-you-think). Massage can relax us, decreasing the chances of any physical harm stress can wreak on the body.

Sitting for extended periods of time, working with machinery, climbing ladders, carrying heavy equipment, bending down low, practically every repetitive activity we participate in during a work day puts strain on our bodies. Eventually, if not addressed, this strain can lead to an injury. For most of us, we cannot afford an injury; getting regular massages will decrease the chance of said injury and elongate our careers.

Massage is so much more than a pamper for the world’s elite, it is a necessity for the workers, for the growers, for the caregivers, for everyone. To make massage therapy a part of your self-care routine, call today 970-241-1199.
